Jazz Festival at Maymont Attracts Thousands
Monday, August 16th, 2010The inaugural Richmond Jazz Festival, titled Jazz at Maymont, on Saturday August 14 and Sunday August 15 was such a success that it exceeded expectations. Thousands attended the two-day event on the grounds of Maymont, where jazz greats like Chaka Khan, Chuck Magione, and Boney James, performed on two stages – along with some regionally acclaimed jazz musicians. Ceramic Sculpture of Jun Kaneko at VMFA
Saturday, August 7th, 2010Monumental ceramic sculptures of Jun Kaneko have been installed in the sculpture garden at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. On display through December 12, the work was chosen for its scale and presence. Jun Kaneko, born in Japan and now based in Omaha, creates the largest fired ceramic sculptures in the world. (more…)
