Where to Go Next May 6, 2011
The William Miller House was visited by renowned Travel Writer Jude Reitman in January while she was in Richmond working on a project, the Best Places to Stay from Richmond to Middleburg. Jude writes for Bonjour Paris and Where to Go to Next, both Frommer-recommended sites for upscale, sophisticated travelers.
Here is an excerpt from “Where to Go Next” that see did for the William Miller House:
“I figured a B&B would most likely measure up. A quick look at Trip Advisor (my personal travel Bible) turned up the "best B&B in Richmond:" the William Miller House. Location: in the heart of the historic Fan District where the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University have campuses. Fan District is home to Monument Avenue, considered "one of the most beautiful streets in America," and the only avenue in the United States named a National Historic Landmark.”

Someone's at the door and they want to sleep over!
Pat Daniels and Mike Rohde originally bought their old home in the Fan for their children in 1994. A son and daughter were attending Virginia Commonwealth University at the time, and the home's location at the corner of Floyd Avenue and Morris Street, just two blocks from campus, was perfect.
But when the couple's jobs with AT&T brought them to Richmond in 1996, they kicked out the kids and began renovating, the idea of turning it into a bed-and-breakfast always in the back of their minds.
